FACILITIES:
The primary public swimming area on Anderson Island:
Two separate, cordoned off swimming areas on Lake Florence.
One is for the "Big Kids".
It has a floating dock and a separate floating platform with a tower to jump from.
The other one is for the "Little Un's". It has a floating "V" dock and a slide.
Sandy beaches
A sand volleyball court
Picnic areas.
RULES:
DOGS (except for service dogs) and ALCOHOL are not allowed.
CAUTIONS:
No lifeguard is on duty.
LOCATION:
Located on Guthrie Road, Lowell Johnson Park is one of Anderson Island's busiest public parks.
HISTORY:
It is known as "The Ol' Swimmin' Hole" by locals because of it's historic origin.
It was a gathering place and probably used for bathing before electric power was introduced to the island in the 1960's.
